Determination of firmness of adhesion contact of oily compositions to wood

Abstract

This study analyses of linseed oil ability to coat wood substrates based on the free energy of linseed oil and wood surfaces. The value of surface free energy for linseed oil calculated based on the parachor method. The interfacial tension in the surface between the linseed oil and wood was calculated according to the Girifalco-Good equation. For the work was used the literature values of wood surface energy, which calculated by Zissman method or Young-Dupre equation. Work of adhesion of linseed oil on wood substrates was calculated. Obtained values of work of adhesion are positive magnitude, indicating the stability of these surfaces contacts.
