Abstract
The paper presents a structural analysis on how reliable is the diesel fuel system of the transport means. It results in a mathematical expression to identify the probability of reliable work of the fuel system and the probability of its elementsʼ fault by operation using different kinds of fuel. The analysis formulates a criterion to optimize the mixed composition of fuel which allows to define percentage of bio-diesel in the mix using the conditions of minimizing fuel consumption, emissions of foul gases to the atmosphere and increasing torsional moment of the crankshaft.
