Abstract
The results of formation of shortcomings groups and symptoms as part of the development of the transport diagnostics theory are presented. The proposed group are constructed in a logical relationship to the classification of technical and operational performance of vehicles operation. Examples of groups identifying shortcomings are given. The interrelation of groups deficiencies and individual symptom is shown. Allocated species relations between shortcomings and symptoms - "direct link", "functional link", "indirect link".
