Application of the optical-mathematical method for inhomogeneity description of the cutting tool structure

Abstract
The degree of structural inhomogeneity of the knives metal that made from «65Г» and «20X13» steels before and after operation using the optical-mathematical method has been studied. A comparative analysis of the structure formation features in various zones (blade and main part) of the cutting tool in the course of the whole life cycle was carried out. With the help of the proposed method, defects that influence on the service life and reliability of the knives have been identified.
